About Five Card Stud

At one time 5-card stud was the most popular poker game being dealt. It was started in New Orleans and moved up the Mississippi on the steamboats and moved out west with the gold rush and the end of the Civil War. The game is rather simple to play and does entail some bluffing, as the hand possibilities are easy to read. It is played with one card dealt face down and four cards dealt face up. The betting starts after the first two cards are dealt and continues after each of the other three are dealt. This game is the game that is played in the movie Cincinnati Kid. (more…)

The expression of the fish and shark is very much associated with poker.

Any game of poker be it holdem, omaha, razz or another stud or draw game is really very strategic to play and just like all games of strategy in the game you will certainly find out that there are some weak and strong players. The stronger players who win a lot and devour the weak players are known as the sharks of poker, while the weaker players who lose a lot are known as the fish of the game, the fish are there for the sharks to feed off. Last year, Absolute Poker released a new 8.0 version of their software. Since then, it has won awards for the software that has improved their player base. Automatic updates are sent directly to you if you have their software downloaded. There’s some bad news for Mac and Linux users, though. They are only able to play through the instant play option. The Poker River Card

If you play a lot of poker but you are unfamiliar with some of its terms this article is about the river card. In poker the river card is the last communal card to be dealt out by the dealer. This card can often make or break a players hand so players with good high pocket cards often like to hold on to their cards until this card is dealt out. Many a game has been won on the river card by the player holding a hand that is entirely dependent upon the final card. In poker terms when this happens the unfortunate loosing player is said to have “drowned in the river”.
