PLO Tournament Strategy in Omaha
A critical decision that you have to take in Pot Limit Omaha or PLO is if you should get into the pot before flop. There are many reasons that might determine your decision. One of them is how strong your poker cards are. Then the seating arrangement at the table is another crucial factor. Apart from this, you should keep in mind if a raise or a re-raise has been held.
This article will cover several factors in an easy manner which will help you to get the picture of how to make decisions and take winning steps in the game of Pot Limit Omaha.
Let us start by understanding how the Pot Limit betting system can affect your game of poker play and how it can be very dangerous if you show your hand ahead of time. The system of pot limit betting is, in the beginning the monetary value of bets is relatively small when compared to the bets towards the finishing of one hand. This is generally the scene when many players have strong hands and keep raising one another. It implies that odds are pretty high in Pot Limit Omaha. This means that you can let it a small amount of money in the beginning of the game and win a big amount at the end.
There is a danger that lies with PLO betting; when you call a little bet prior to the flop, and someone hikes the amount behind you, the offset raise can return with a re-raise of a larger size that can create a huge impact. You should always try to avoid this unless you are very sure of your hand.
You should have the ability to avoid disclosing the strength of your hand when the bets are not of a very large amount. This is because if you have a pair of aces, and you increase the pot pre flop, your opponents will have a notion of how your hand might be.
This concept structuralizes a few simple rules of Pot limit Omaha-:
· If you don’t raise or hesitate from raising, you will give your opponents a chance to over flop you.
· If you only raise strong hands, your moves will become very easy to predict and beat.
The point is to use a mixed raising concept. You should try to make a pot when you think your hand is the strong. You should not give your opponents a chance to hold you down with aces. You should try raising strong hands like 6-7-8-9 or K-K- 8-9. This will keep your opponents baffled.
Keeping these simple tips in mind and practicing on dummy games, you can bring a huge difference to your bank balance. GOOD LUCK!

Table Position
Table position if all about where you are sitting with regard to the first player to act and the last player to act. The closer you are to the first player to act, the better hand you should have to call or raise. The closer you are to the last person to act, you can play the lower value starting hands. This is important due to the tendency of players with big hands to raise in early position and people with smaller starting hands to play when close to the last acting position. Small pairs and small suited connectors increase in value as a starting hand when there are no raises and you are near or in last position. This all has to do with seeing the FLOP for as low a cost in chips that you can get. You do not mind taking a shot with a pair of threes for just the cost of the blinds. On the other hand calling a big raise with the same hand is not percentage poker.
Being in or out of position is all relative to where the bets are coming from and the table position you have in relation to the last possible bet. (more…)
